Without words

Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) is the civil protection organisation in Germany. It has long tradition and is a strong community of people aside the ordinary Fire Brigade. But, by reading one of their internal magazine, the reader can be astonished by looking at certain pictures.
I will not comment: everybody is free to make its own thinking about it and about his life, but Norbert was born without legs.
You can see Norbert working in the picture above during live exercises with THW.
Just think about him and his family and his life and about all the other people in a similar condition.
But, think about him in silence. Words are not needed.

Alitalia, Maruska e dintorni

Ciascuno per sè, Dio per tutti.
"E' giusto esultare..." perchè la Maruska si è conquistata comunque un posto nelle prime pagine del Corriere della Sera, rilasciando pubblicamente il suo curriculum e qualche offerta di lavoro sicuramente la riceverà.....

Per il resto Alitalia, compagnia di bandiera, è totalmente allo sbando.
Forse, a chi era convenuto a Fiumicino per esultare, è sfuggita la sensazione che ha il disoccupato di inutilità una volta messo in cassa integrazione oppure dopo il fallimento della propria ditta,
quando, alla mattina, la moglie esce per lavorare, i bambini vanno a scuola....e tu rimani in casa a fare niente, perchè nessuno ti vuole e ti cerca.
Bella sensazione....vedi il film "Il cacciatore di teste"

Per il resto, su Alitalia tutti hanno una propria opinione. Da un punto di vista teorico, Alitalia è un assurdo perchè sopravvive non tenendo conto delle regole di mercato, e chi viaggia, sa bene cosa questo significhi...
Aeroplani vecchi, personale poco motivato e pieno di privilegi, scarsa performance, poca precisione....
Ricordate: Alitalia .... Always Late In Time Always Late In Arrival

Però che si debba rinunciare ad avere una Compagnia di Bandiera, che una società estera come la Lufthansa controlli l' Alitalia è anche un assurdo...
che ventimila persone vadano in cassa integrazione ed una società fallisca lasciando gli aerei sparsi per il mondo anche questo è assurdo...
Vedremo cosa ci riservano le prossime ore, sicuramente costituiranno un case study di cattiva gestione aziendale e delle tecniche di negoziazione

Un vero statista

Migliaia, milioni di individui lavorano, producono e risparmiano nonostante tutto quello che possiamo inventare per molestarli, incepparli, scoraggiarli.

E' la vocazione naturale che li spinge; non soltanto la sete di denaro.

Il gusto, l' orgoglio di vedere la propria azienda prosperare, acquistare credito, ispirare fiducia a clientele sempre più vaste, ampliare gli impianti, abbellire le sedi, costituiscono una molla di progresso altrettanto potente che il guadagno.

Se così non fosse, non si spiegherebbe come ci siano imprenditori che nella propria azienda prodigano tutte le loro energie e investono tutti loro capitali per ritrarre spesso utili di gran lunga più modesti di quelli che potrebbero sicuramente e comodamente ottenere con altri impieghi.

Arte contro cosa nostra - Art against Cosa Nostra

As today's news, I refer to the boycott of hundred sicilian families of the wealthy Catania, that denied the partecipation of their children to this dance exhibition.
They were scheduled to take part to an open air exhibition against "mafia" the so called "Cosa Nostra".
Their families denied permissions to take part to.
This is a signal of weakness of being judged by the community of Catania, of being reported by local newspaper and to be marked as people against "mafia".
This is the sort of fear that does not allow young generations of South Italy to start new legal activities, this is a subtle menace that like cancer, a deadly illness, will eat the good portion of sicilian people.
A lot of stories and romances have been bound to mafia, but the "Thing" still exists and eat its victims. But, alike other injustices around the wordl, courage and publicity will defeat it!

Appeasement

Traduciamolo con "accomodamento". In realtà, chi ha buona memoria storica ricorderà che il termine è legato alla politica di Chamberlain nei confronti di Hitler prima della seconda guerra mondiale. Nel tentativo di evitare un confronto armato, Gran Bretagna e Francia non intervennero e sanzionarono Hitler per l' occupazione della Boemia, della Moravia, e dei Sudeti.

E' scorretto interpretare degli eventi storici attuali con la storia passata, perchè alcune condizioni al contorno sono cambiate ed altre potrebbero esser perse, certo è che l' affare "Georgia" si conclude con un 1-0 a favore della Russia.

Questo ingombrante vicino ha dimostrato di poter impiegare, senza molti scrupoli, armamenti pesanti, convenzionali, non particolarmente "intelligenti", in breve tempo, quando tutta l' opinione mondiale era distratta dalle Olimpiadi di Pechino.

Come ricorda Newsweek, la Federazione russa stava conducendo esercitazioni nella zona del Caucaso da un mese ed ha invaso, assicurandosi il passaggio del tunnel di Roki.

Il tunnel è un passaggio strategico per le Forze di terra tra i due Stati: la sua interruzione avrebbe potuto cambiare la dinamica dell' intervento.

L' intervento della forza convenzionale è stato un monito a tutti i vicini, primi tra tutti polacchi, lituani ed ucraini. Improvvisamente ci si è ricordati che la guerra può avvenire così, improvvisamente.

L' Unione Europea non è stata capace di formulare un' azione comune: improvvisamente si è ricordata che l' invasore russo è anche il principale fornitore d' energia. Anzi, le notizie che giungevano dalla Georgia erano totalmente confuse, grazie ad azioni di hacker che defacciavano i siti istituzionali.

In breve:

• la Federazione Russia ha condotto una guerra lampo in Georgia


• ha distrutto politicamente il suo leader, per altro poco astuto, e ridotto a zero il potenziale delle Forze armate georgiane, alleate dell' Occidente


• ha conquistato un ulteriore sbocco sul mare


• ha acquisito il controllo dell' oleodotto in Georgia, cha avrebbe dovuto esser una fonte indipendente


• ha emesso un chiaro segnale militare alle altre nazioni confinanti.

La Federazione Russa si è fermata nelle operazioni militari solamente perchè esistono delle relazioni commerciali con l ' Occidente che richiedono un fornitore ed un cliente. L' Europa, ben volentieri, baratterà le irregolarità commesse in Georgia con la sicurezza di una sorgente energetica.

Cosa possiamo imparare da questo evento? La nostra impreparazione ad affrontare con rapidità decisionale politica un evento militare internazionale e la nostra estrema esposizione alla fonti energetiche esterne. Forse, anche un adeguamento dello strumento militare nazionale è necessario, per fronteggiare una difesa nazionale.

Bene, ha fatto quindi Berlusconi, nei colloqui con Gheddafi, a discutere l' incremento di fornitura di gas.

Georgia and its dangerous neighbours

Just have a look to following pictures and put then timely on order... Berlin (1945), Prague (1968) and Georgia (2008). Very little has changed in russian military strategy: we are accustomed to a far away war in Afghanistan, where soldiers have clear engagement rules, where the Coalition Forces are put on the Press if there are civilian losses, where friends fire has a meaning.
For Russia all these words have no meaning, we are talking with an imperial power that has nothing to justify or explain against world.
Perhaps we should be aware of it.
Soldier are executing orders, nobody is claiming against the type of weapons that are used, whether based on depleded uranium, or whether the are using smart bombs like the good old "Stalin's organs" that are not selective on civilians.
Europe wake up, if commercial interest are jeopardised.
Georgia is not harmful, they are an exception in the east russian panorama especially because an "independent" pipeline is running there.
Georgia must be punished because they are too close to West and they are somehow relevant to wetern economy. According to russian public opinion, Georgia is responsible for war (just have a look to Pravda ) .
Anyway, all this can show us that during a public event (Bejing 2008 Olympics) somebody (Russia) can decide, despite the "good" co-operation with Nato, to support with tanks their interest somewhere else.
Before European union decides which attitude to keep with him, we have a new status quo.
Europe hasn't learnt anything, Russian has learnt also the fair politician words: we are there and we are ready to send a peace keeping force!
Ukraina, Poland and neighbour countries are advised.

Shame on Alemanno, Rome's Major: golden silence is better....

Two dutch bikers, by camping,were assaulted two days ago by romanians sheperds: they used violence to the woman.
The Rome's Major, releasing a comment told that the bikers were in the wrong place and that it was their fault of being incautious.

Silence is gold, at least in certain circumstances.

Mr. Alemanno should excuse himself to be so unpolite and unrealistic: the two tourists had travelled all the way through Europe and were unlucky only there.

On the official site of Mr. Alemanno no comment was released up today (Aug., 24th).

P.S.: italian newspapers gave wide stress to this fact, also because another violent event took place close to Neaple. Safety is a major issue in Italy but we are claiming our right to stay in Europe being a civilised nation. What struck me today was the comment of the dutch lady that had a positive reaction against what happened and refused medicines to diminish pain. She would rather prefer her body naturally reacting , to restablish quickier. I admire her for determination and courage!

P.S. 2: Mr. Alemanno, on his web site, says that the Council of Rome will claim for damages against the two rumanian sheperds and that he will chase those two beasts...
